In Alamata city, a disagreement transpired when school registration began under the Tigray Region administration prompting youth to voice their opposition to “TPLF militants” leading to two people losing their lives according to residents who spoke to Voice of America.
Hailu Abera who says he was elected mayor of the interim city administration by the Amhara Region for budgetary and administrative purposes says “TPLF militants” have “entered the area under the guise of IDPs” which he blames for the attack.
Zinabu Desta who says he is the Alamata city interim administration mayor under the Tigray Region interim administration says, “the loss of life and injuries occurred due to armed protesters with a special political agenda who do not want peace causing unrest” he said, rejecting the accusation.
